The pigments in permanent makeup are pigmented less deeply into the skin than with traditional tattoos, so they will naturally fade over time. How fast depends on the skin, lifestyle and how often you have it touched up. An annual update is therefore recommended to extend the durability.
Your permanent makeup is darker and more intense than expected the first few days. This will gradually lighten during the healing process. Redness and swelling is normal, but minimal.
A minimum of two treatments are often required, spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. The color will initially be much lighter after the first week. In the second treatment we look at the pigment retention and any adjustments can be made.

Wear a sunscreen of SPF-50 daily after healing to keep the color longer. How quickly it fades depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, whether you undergo chemical peels or use other skin exfoliants. If you're having a chemical peel or laser treatment, tell your practitioner that you have a cosmetic tattoo — they should avoid this area.
